The McKesson Prevent® R Shielded IV Catheter is designed to enhance safety and ease of use during intravenous access procedures. The push-button safety feature allows for one-handed needle retraction into the safety shield, significantly reducing the risk of accidental needle-stick injuries. This design provides added protection for healthcare professionals, promoting a safer clinical environment.

The catheter is equipped with a blue, ISO-compliant, color-coded hub, making it easy to identify the 22-gauge needle size quickly. The flash chamber offers visual confirmation that the catheter has been correctly inserted into the vein, further enhancing the accuracy and efficiency of the procedure. The enhanced flashback design, with a notched needle, allows for optimal visualization of blood return along the needle shaft, enabling immediate confirmation of vessel entry.

Made from soft, flexible, and kink-resistant materials, the catheter conforms to the shape of the vessel, providing improved comfort and reliability. Radiopaque materials make the catheter visible during x-rays and other forms of radiation, ensuring its effectiveness in imaging procedures. The catheter’s high-pressure design supports use with power injectors up to 300 psi.
